Postdoctoral Research Scholar

Dept. of Entomology and Plant Pathology
Email: clruark (at)

Casey is a postdoc in the Phylodynamics Research Group and helps operate the wet lab program. She will primarily be studying viral evolution, and specifically, how vector-borne plant viruses adapt and expand their host range. Her B.S. is from Auburn University in Microbial and Molecular Biology, and she recently earned her Ph.D. from NC State in Plant Pathology. Broadly, Casey’s research interests involve using molecular biology and bioinformatics to generate useful agricultural pest and pathogen management tools. She is especially interested in viral discovery and symbiosis within plant parasitic nematodes, which was also the focus of her doctoral research.
