Valeria Rayo-Solano

I am a senior pursuing a Bachelor’s in Microbiology with minors in German Studies, Global One Health, and Statistics. David and I are working on a project studying the emergence and evolution of a mutation in Malaria’s (Plasmodium falciparum) Kelch13 gene region that is linked to resistance to the most widely used anti-malarial medication, Artemisinin. I am interested in pursuing graduate studies in the molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases. In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, and traveling.
